FREESTYLE SKI & SNOWBOARD

"Freestyle skiing is the ultimate expression of freedom and creativity on the slopes. It's about breaking free from convention, pushing boundaries, and blazing your own trail." - SkierBOB

The freestyle team at Sky Tavern invites ski and snowboard students to experience the world of big mountain, park-specific features, and USASA North Tahoe competitions. The program starts in November with 8+ weeks of dryland training focusing on core and strength-building. Gymnastics training is also a weekly practice for 8+weeks and will focus on air awareness, strength building, and rotational awareness. Once Sky Tavern opens, students will take the skills learned in the gym to the snow and focus heavily on the terrain park and big mountain riding. Kids will learn from AASI/ PSIA Certified Freestyle coaches how to safely hit jumps, boxes, rails, and natural features while also building camaraderie, mountain etiquette, and a stronger passion for the sport.

We are grateful for our guest freestyle coaches that come to visit, David Wise, Shelly Robertson, Lane Spina, Bob Howard.

Freestyle Team

The freestyle team at Sky Tavern invites ski and snowboard students to experience the world of park riding, big mountain, and USASA North Tahoe competitions. The program starts once a snow base is in place. Training will begin on snow and focus on air awareness, strength building, and rotational awareness. Once Sky Tavern officially opens, students will take the skills learned in the lower park to the main park and focus heavily on boxes, rails, jumps, and big mountain riding. Kids will learn from USASA/AASI/ PSIA-certified freestyle coaches who will help each athlete develop their skills through structured classes, one-on-one coaching, and guided discovery. This program is offered to level 6 and higher athletes. Additionally, athletes must be able to consistently link turns without stopping on the 5 hill, feel comfortable skiing/riding in trees, and can ski/ride switch down the 4 bowl.
